Have your say: policy priorities for Labour Party Conference
With Labour Party Conference rapidly approaching, I am delighted to invite you to the next meeting of the General Assembly for all members in Bath CLP. The meeting will take place virtually via Zoom on Monday 19th July at 19:00.
This is an opportunity for members to discuss and vote on a policy motion which we will submit to the Labour Party Conference. We are allowed to submit one motion.
We have had a range of important issues put forward and will be debating motions on climate justice, green jobs, migrant rights, electoral reform, and Israel-Palestine.
The agenda for the meeting, copies of the motions for Party Conference proposed by Bath members, and minutes of the last Executive Meeting are attached below at the bottom of this email, together with the 2021 Budget and the CLP Development Plan which also require formal approval.
If you wish to submit an amendment to a motion it would be very helpful and much appreciated if it could be submitted in reply to this email by the 18th of July. This will assist the electronic voting process.
Joining the meeting
To run the meeting as smoothly as possible we are asking you to register in advance of the meeting using this link:
https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwtcuispzktHdWzMTZjilVpROwXmhnLsr5q
Please register by 5pm on the day of the meeting, otherwise we are unable to guarantee entry.
Once you have registered we will send you a personal link to join the meeting. If there are any problems when we check your membership we will get in touch and try to rectify issues to ensure you can attend.
During the meeting we will be conducting all voting via the Zoom polling function. This is anonymous, and removes the need to send separate emails out during the meeting. It also means we can share the results as soon as they come in.
If at all possible, we ask that all members register and join on a separate device so that everyone can vote via Zoom. If this really isn’t possible, then please let us know before the meeting and we will add any extra votes from your household onto our totals.
If you have any accessibility requirements for using Zoom, such as live subtitles, please let us know by replying to this email and we will do our best to make sure your needs are met.
We are continuing to have problems with members not receiving emails via Organise (the Labour Party email platform). If you are aware of any Bath Labour members who are not receiving our emails, please pass on the notice and in particular the link above. We have written twice to the national Labour Party team expressing our concern and requesting support to resolve this issue.
Urgent Request – disabled children & students
Kate Green, Shadow Secretary of State for Education, is requesting information on the experience of disabled children /students in school and the support or lack of it that they receive.
We would really welcome any evidence that disabled members or the parents/ carers of disabled children wish to share on this important subject. We will send all evidence we receive in a report to the Shadow Education Team.
If you wish to submit evidence on this subject please email info@bathlabour.org.uk before the 31st of August.

Bath Anti-Racism Rally
It was great to see many Labour Party members at the rescheduled Bath Anti-Racism Collective rally on Sunday. There were many thought provoking speeches – and BARC will announce future events here https://www.facebook.com/BATHARCOLLECTIVE/
We will share this and other events we learn about on our Facebook page here https://en-gb.facebook.com/BathLabour/
Thank you
for taking the time to read this message. The Labour Party is nothing without its members and influencing the Party Conference is an important opportunity for each of us to have our say on the direction of party policy.
I hope you can join us on the 19th. Together we can build a better future for this country.
If you have had problems receiving the email with this information and the motions for debate please email me at info@bathlabour.org.uk.
