Helen Godwin will be Labour’s candidate for the West of England Mayor election on 1 May 2025.
The result was announced by Avon & Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Clare Moody at an event held Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution in Queen Square, attended by MPs and media from the South West. More than a thousand Labour Party members voted for Helen in a three-way contest.
The West of England Combined Authority is currently Labour-run, after the Party defeated the Tories in the last election in 2021.
Helen Godwin is from the area and continues to live here. She served as a Councillor in Bristol for two terms and has worked with regional mayors across the UK to deliver positive, progressive policies.
