Being the parent and carer of a child with disabilities is tough. People can be quick to judge and it is a constant battle to get the support and benefits that more often than not they are entitled to.

Being the parent of a child with a disability is hugely rewarding, the love and bonds are deep but the processes for support are long, with many hurdles and obstacles along the way, with most finding the experience overwhelming and emotionally draining. On top of other family/work responsibilities and financial challenges, the burden is great.

The more people understand and listen to us, the more we hope they will stand by us to campaign and demand the policy and cultural changes that are so badly needed.
